About Ted Cox – Car Donation & Fundraising Consultant
Ted Cox is the President of Ted Cox, LLC, a marketing and fundraising consulting firm. His consulting firm was retained by Action Donation Services in the spring of 2004 to handle all relationships with prospective and client charities.
Ted's experience includes an eighteen year career with the Boy Scouts of America. When he retired in 2001 he was the CEO of the scout council serving San Diego and Imperial Counties. In that capacity for nine years, Ted enjoyed major successes in recruiting and
motivating top level volunteers; consistent success in fundraising and endowment development; and responsibility for developing and managing a non-profit organization with a $4,000,000 budget and over fifty employees. In addition, to managing the day to day operations of the council including funding and balancing a $4,000,000 annual budget, Ted additionally personally raised for the council endowment fund over $1,000,000 per year for each of the nine years he was CEO. While in San Diego, Ted served on a community coalition of major charity executive directors including the Salvation Army, The American Red Cross, St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities, and other well known charities.
After Ted's retirement from the scout program, he says he quickly became "restless" and agreed to work for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in San Diego as their Development Director for twenty-four months. While there Ted was responsible for a variety of fund raising activities and for developing, implementing and managing programs to broaden the fund raising base for the charity. Ted conducted a workshop on annual giving and direct mail campaigns at the 2002 Global Ronald McDonald House Charities Conference attended by RMHC executive directors from all over the world. It was while at RMHC-SD that Ted first came in contact with Action Donation Services.
Ted has a BS degree in Marketing from California State University/Northridge. He also has a MS degree in Human Development and Leadership from Murray State University/Kentucky. He has taken numerous graduate level courses in fund raising and estate planning.
Always active in community affairs, Ted has been an officer in both Kiwanis and Rotary. He founded the California Ecumenical Coalition which is a community coalition of many of the major Christian, Jewish, and Islamic religions serving Orange County California.
Ted and his wife Barbara have nine grown children and 21 grandchildren. Ted is an avid runner and "car guy".
